Christmas season has arrived – did you get approved for your annual license to debt?
Seriously, will you be spending next year’s money in the name of Christmas?
If you are not, then you are a minority.
Most of us are making a list with our children of toys they want.
But didn’t you just have a garage sale to clean out overflowing toy shelves?
We are hurting our children.
We are teaching them to buy things they can’t afford, to want more than they can use – all in the spirit of ‘the Season’.
I have watched young adult after young adult go into debt as soon as credit is offered.
They were taught this is okay somewhere…
It was taught to them EVERYWHERE!
All around, we are making lists of planned purchases, while we have unpaid bills, loans earning interests 3-10 times faster than any savings, and 90% of the world starves.
Stop living for the moment.
Stop making a joke of Jesus birth – as if He is okay with all this selfish spending & bad stewardship.
Stop acting like the Christmas Holidays is a drug that cancels out the pain of real life and a world in need of selfless sharing of our resources.
Here’s an easy 1st step:
Teach your kids something different.
You may have to keep family obligations to swap gifts.
But YOU ARE THE BOSS OF YOUR HOME.
Don’t buy a crazy new toy to replace the unused room full.
Don’t request huge items from your family, especially when you know they are indebted. You are adding to their slavery, for the borrower is slave to the lender.
Just start a NEW WAY.
Then your children will be a step farther from slavery to money.
No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.
